The suspended captain of the national cricket team, Sandeep Lamichhane, who is accused of raping a minor, has said that he is “in the midst of returning to Nepal to defend” the accusation against him.

Writing a status on Facebook on Sunday night, he also mentioned that he was in isolation due to mental stress and ill health. And, he mentioned that he will return to Nepal soon.

“The news that the warrant was issued in my name and the complaint filed against me became public made me mentally paranoid, I was not able to think about what to do or not”, he said, “All these things affected me mentally on the one hand and on the other hand I had to go through an illness. And due to mental stress and ill health, I have been kept in isolation.’He called the statement given by the victim as ‘false’ and said that being portrayed as a criminal affected him mentally and physically.

He said that he is bringing himself back to normal condition on the advice of doctors. He further said, “My health will gradually improve and I am planning to return to Nepal as soon as possible and return to Nepal to defend the false complaint against me.”

Lamichhane, who went to Kenya to play the T-20 series, went to Jamaica to play the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Although he said that he will return from there soon, he has not revealed where he is now. Even the police have not been able to find it.

According to sources, Lamichhane has visas for countries like America, Canada, UK, Australia.

On August 21, a police complaint was registered at the Gaushala police circle, saying that he raped her several times in a hotel in Kathmandu after taking her for a ride in Bhaktapur. After that, he wrote a status on Facebook and said that he is innocent and is going to come to Nepal respecting the law.

But so far they are out of touch. After he did not return, the police is preparing to proceed with the process of bringing him to Nepal in coordination with the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).

District Court, Kathmandu has given permission to District Police Office, Kathmandu on 23 August to arrest Lamichhane. Accordingly, the Kathmandu Police has written to the Tribhuvan International Airport Security Police Office to arrest him. Based on that, he will be arrested as soon as he lands at the airport.

Lamichhane went to Kenya to play the T20 series on August 6. It is alleged that the night before that, he took a 17-year-old girl to a hotel in Pingalasthan, Kathmandu and raped her.

According to the victim’s statement, Lamichhane himself had gone to pick up the victim near the hostel in central Baneshwar. It is mentioned in the victim’s complaint that he was taken to Nagarkotma in Bhaktapur on the pretext of having lunch and returned late.

When he arrived in Kathmandu, it was already 10:30 in the night and Lamichhane told him to stay in the hotel saying that the hostel would be closed. Then rape while staying at the hotel
